This past weekend, my friend Stu Cartwright attended the Emerald City Comiconor ECCC.  I had originally planned to attend, but when I wasn’t able to, I asked Stu if he might fill us in on a bit of his adventure.  Thanks for sharing Stu, and for giving us a little peek into the amazing world that is Comicon.  And now, as Star Trek’s Captain Picard would say, make it so!  Stu shares…  Read More

Most of us are familiar with the Dorian Gray classic story, a novel originally written by Oscar Wilde, full of hedonism and corruption.  Many variations of the story have been used in movies etc. but the underlying tale is that of a man who sells his soul in an effort to keep that which is most precious to him, his youthful looks and immortality.  A painted portrait of Dorian bears his true reflection and for every year and every sin, the portrait ages and becomes disfigured, all the while Dorian retains his youthful vanity.  What happens during his extended lifetime becomes the tale which has been explored through many scenarios down through the years.  Read More…

That One Dude in the Cutoffs…

A Bit of Banter with Storyboard Artist K. Douglas MacRae…

I met K. Douglas MacRae way back in the day when online fandoms consisted solely of mailing lists and IRC chat rooms.  Attending a Convention in Toronto, Canada, a small group of fans had come together to celebrate the original La Femme Nikita television series.  Although I was a Committee Chair for the Con, I was new to the fandom world and didn’t know much about the process of television production and behind the scene responsibilities. While checking in VIPs during the pre-event setup, I met an energy-filled production guy by the name of Doug.  Read More

Tell Me Your Name…

A Chat with Evora

Evora Single Release photo

A music critic I am not, but I do know what I like when I hear it.  That being said, there is a wide range of sounds that appeal to me which cross many genres and repertoires.  When launching At a Glance, I knew music was something I would include through feature interviews and discussion.

So to start us off on our first music interview, I’d like to introduce a band whose sound I really enjoy.  Evora is a five piece group originating from Dublin, Ireland.  They have just released a single and music video titled Tell Me Your Name from their upcoming album, Hurry Up Before I Die.  The album is in final production stages and will be out soon!  Read More

Life of a Dancer…

A Conversation with Ballerina Teagan Lowe

To dance.  To be able to leap through the air, stand on pointed toe and pirouette, and then gracefully float across a stage.  I have dreamed such dreams.  But in my waking hours, it is blatantly obvious that those types of movements for me personally, will be relegated to remain in my dreams.  Ah, but there are others, more blessed than I, who have that rare and impressive talent.

Teagan Lowe is one such individual.  I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Teagan for a while now.  She is petite, beautiful and everything you’d think a ballerina should be.  She is also strong, funny and an avid coffee drinker who happens to get distracted by shiny sparkly things.  Agreeing to chat with us, she graciously shared about her life in the dance world, the path she has traveled, as well as her goals and dreams.  Read More

Merlin – The Time Has Come

Kind of…

My Tumblr is laden with Merlin things as the series finally reaches it’s end on Christmas Eve.  I am heartbroken and excited at the same time, for multiple reasons.  I don’t want the series to end, yet I know it should..it must.  Yet I can’t wait for the end to get here because these last episodes have been so good, it’s amazing to watch.  At the same time, I don’t want it to end not just because I will miss it, but because of the fear I have..will I be unhappy with the way it ends?  Will I be satisfied but sad because of where they take the characters and it ruins me on an emotional level?  Will I be happy all the way around, or will I totally hate it…   Read More…

Dancing, Fundraising and Beatlemania

A Moment and an Event with Tristan MacManus…

If you are a fan of Dancing with the Stars you undoubtedly know of Tristan MacManus.  According to Tristan, he’s “The Hot One” on the show.  Ok, so the line was scripted, but I doubt you will find many who disagree.   The Irish born and bred Tristan debuted on Dancing with the Stars in Season Twelve as a performer in the Dance Troupe.  The following season he returned to participate in the competition, being assigned partner Nancy Grace and went on in subsequent seasons to compete with partners Gladys Knight and Pamela Anderson.  Tristan’s approach and teaching method with his partners, his skill and wit are all qualities which have endeared him as a fan favorite Pro dancer.  But there is more to Tristan than just dancing.  Read More

A Moment with Josh Sabarra…

When I started putting together ideas for the first interview articles launching this magazine, one person immediately came to mind.  I met Josh Sabarra online via Twitter.  Josh and I shared common interests, most notably that of a fondness for a television program called Dancing with the Stars.  Josh’s connection to the show was more than just fondness; as it turned out he had a much deeper connection to the program.  I’ll get to that, but first let’s meet Josh.  Read More
